On July 5, 2010, Ra’anana’s Civil Guard Bicycle Police Unit held a special ceremony to mark the entrance into service of new patrol uniforms donated by the Ra’anana Municipality and the National Authority for the Prevention of Traffic Accidents. Bicycle Unit Commander, First Sergeant Samuel Schwartz thanked the representatives of the municipality and the authority and noted that the uniforms “will help in fulfilling our mission of demonstrating a clear police presence and will foster a spirit of pride within the unit.” Chief Superintendent Shai Azoulay, chief of the Kfar Saba Police Station, Deputy Mayor, Adv. Orit Said-Yitzhaki (check spelling), and Dan Ben Yehuda, Director of the Sharon-South Region of the National Authority for the Prevention of Traffic Accidents praised the unit’s work and promised to continue to assist in the future. During the ceremony, Senior Staff Sergeant Major Alex Schwartz, the commander of the Lev Hapark substation from which the bicycle unit operates and Superintendent Ran Ben Simon, the chief of the Ra’anana police station, presented certificates of recognition to the Bicycle Unit’s commander First Sergeant Schwartz, and it’s Deputy Commander, Lior Edleman. Ra’anana Mayor Nahum Hofri announced that he will be joining the Bicycle Police Unit in the near future and asked that it reserve a uniform for him
